May 20, 2017 Social Event at Jim’s

Dear Friends of JAKS,

I had two people make suggestions for themes for the benefit concert and the Social.  Interestingly, they both had the same idea- Disney.  It must be a sign.  So, I did some research and found that there is a lot of Disney that I have ignored or forgotten, and some I never heard.  And, although my first reaction was more no than yes- not being a huge fan of a lot of Disney for live performances, it turns out I was wrong about that and I warmed up to using Disney as a theme.  I decided to try it out at the social, learn some new ensemble numbers and possibly perform them at the benefit- and maybe even go all Disney for the benefit as well.

I have chosen the ensemble numbers I would like to have JAKS perform, and will choose solo and duet numbers based on auditions, so if you have a song you would like to audition let me know. 

The ensemble numbers are:

I Won’t Say I’m In Love: Lead singer and 5 girl background singers and dancers

Trashin’ the Camp:  Full Cast -4 main singers– Some cast members on percussion, main dancers, and ensemble dancers and singers

Under the Sea: Lead vocal, Ensemble singers and dancers, main dancers

Cruisin for a Bruisin:  2 Lead vocalists, full cast-ensemble dancers and singers

And From Disney’s Newsies: Medley-Seize the Day and Carrying the Banner. Strong vocal harmonies and strong dancers.  (full cast-vocals)

All of these numbers will require rehearsal, some will need new choreography.  We should start this month.
