Grease Audition Information

Hello, Everyone planning to audition for Grease!  Welcome to JAKS 2015-2016 season.
It seems to be a very good idea, since we are doing a Grease number in the Benefit, to start Grease early-not the rehearsals they will still start on Sept. 1.  But I am going to audition early.  I will start auditions August 10 and will audition all week.  We will need to fit it into the Benefit schedule, so it will be a bit crazy. Morning's are best for me and I will have Beth prepare a sign up sheet.  If you will be out of town that week please set up a time before if possible, or talk to me.
This will be a really fun show for everyone.  Many of the parts will be double cast, but still not every girl will get to be Sandy, Patty or a Pink Lady and not every boy will be Danny or a T-Bird.
I want to give you a list of the other parts you might want to consider.

4 Boys-2 will be t-birds to sing Rock n Roll Party Queen-must be able to sing harmony
4 Girls to play back up singers to Doody in Magic Changes-Dance and Sing back-up
4 Boys to be back up singers to Doody in Magic Changes-just singing and a few movements

Magic changes will also have teen fans sighing over Doody
Marty's Slumber Party will have 2 or three more girls and they will dance in Greased Lightning with the Pink Ladies

So, as you see there are a lot of places for everyone to fit.  Try for the part you want-you might get it.  I will cast based on the quality of the Audition-so learn the song or songs you want, practice harmony parts, and audition with confidence.  Show me what you can do!!!

**Benefit Details**

Hello, JAKS Performers,
I have redone the line-up for the benefit.  I don't plan on any more changes unless we drop something because we don't have the time to get it right.
I have changed a few soloists and may still need to change more when I get an even more complete list of performers.
This is the current order of songs, also the emcee will be talking throughout and I plan to put in a couple of small scenes in between the songs.  The musical part of the program will be about 1 hour and 15 minutes, but the entire program will be two hours.
We will be doing costumes, make-up and beards and wigs (good luck to all of us). Some of them you may need to provide, just to keep it a little easier on me.  I have made listed the costumes for each number and noted the items  I would like you to provide below.  If you don't have a particular costume piece, we can provide it.

Important JAKS information

Hello Everyone,

This year's summer program has been canceled.  We didn't have enough kids who were able to participate for the entire month long program.  I am so sorry to disappoint the families that planned on it and worked your schedules around it.

But, we are planning a benefit concert like we do every year.  Last year we did the Les Miserables concert, and as many of you know in the past we have had Shades of Grey and Pladdohg  play and we did it at the amphitheater.  This year's concert will be at the Hope Box Theatre in Kaysville.  It will be on a Saturday in September, after school starts and will be a dinner program.
There is no fee to be part of this production, but it will be fun and very impressive.

I want to do JAKS Over the Years, and I'd like to invite any alumni to please join us.  I'd like to represent something from most of the shows JAKS has done.

Everyone is invited, including NEW PEOPLE, LITTLE KIDS, ALUMNI, and of course all of the current JAKS kids (Joseph youth chorus will be needed).

I would also like to do at least one number from our upcoming show-Grease.  That means we need to learn it.  So, if you plan on being in Grease please come and learn this number-It will be Grease is the Word-the opening number and it is a full cast number.

THIS IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE FROM YOU:
1. Let me know if you are planning on doing Grease in the Fall
2. Let me know if you would like to be part of this benefit concert as soon as possible and let me know when you cannot rehearse.
3. SEND ME YOUR FAVORITE NUMBERS FROM ANY OF THE SHOWS WE'VE DONE
4. Plan to attend rehearsals for this in August

Thank you.  Hope to see you here next month.

JAKS 2015-2016 Season

Hello, All.

I have finally made a decision about next season's productions.
We are going to do Grease-School Version first, Big River in June, and possibly another full production in lieu of the Summer program in August.
I have applied for the rights to Grease and there are no holds on the show, so there shouldn't be any problems.  June dates at the Hope Box Theater should be secured in the next month, but the Jeanne Wagner dates are ours.

Grease performance dates will be February 26, 27, 29, March 3,4,5 2016. With the possibility of only doing 6 shows and leaving out the Mon. and Thurs. shows.
We will officially kick off the season on September 1,2015 but I want to begin dance rehearsals in August. Auditions will start Sept. 14 and I will cast the show by September 21.  This production has a lot of parts-everyone will be in most of the production numbers and I have added a scene to highlight the younger girls.  Younger boys will have fun with this show as well.  The school version is already cleaned up.
Big River will be a smaller production, and we can't get any June dates at the Jeanne Wagner in 2016 so we will be performing at the Hope Box Theater in Kaysville at the beginning of June.

Since we can get two weekends at the Jeanne Wagner in August, I am thinking of doing a full production of something fun that will include all ages.  I am still looking into the options.  But, of course, it will require summer rehearsals.

Thanks.  I think that all of the concerns over Grease will be handled by doing the school version- the ending doesn't change, but a least Danny ends up with a letter sweater-like the movie.  In the original musical script he quits the track team.
