PAINTING MILLIE SETS

Hi, Everyone,

We are painting sets at Alan Cole's house tomorrow, Friday, starting at 7:00 pm.

See address and directions below.
Alan's address is 635 West 2275 North, in Layton of course.  If you're coming into that area from the west, you go east on Antelope and it's the first left turn AFTER the street-light by Target.  Go north on that street (650 West) for about 3 blocks and we're the corner house on the right at the end of that street.
Coming in from the south, take the I-15 exit by Layton Hills Mall, go north on Hill Field Road PAST Antelope Drive (2000 North), then turn left where the business complex is across from the tennis courts at Northridge High School.  There's a new "Beyond Spa" on that corner.  THAT street is 2275 North. We're the 7th house down on the left, on the corner of 650 West and 2275 North.

Thanks.
Jill

State of Millie Address

Hi, Cast and Parents,

We are in the final stretch and it's important to make all the rehearsals.  I will try not to waste time, but of course when we are "running" the show there is down time for all.  I am really pleased with the show, but we still have a lot of fine-tuning to do, as well as finishing Act II.  Girls, I have some short wigs some of you can wear, but if you have medium or long hair it needs to be put up, neatly.  So you might want to get some ideas now.  If you need help, let me know and I will find a professional hair dresser to help.  I would like some of you to wear your hair parted down the middle, in pigtails with the hair tightly wrapped around each pigtail, or two braids pulled up in loops (at least for the tap numbers.  Even if your hair is short try, at least for these two numbers, to put it in two tight pigtails.
Work on some ideas, please.

Tuition is still an issue.  As you know we have a lot of expenses, licensing, sets, costumes, props, promo, theater rental, and the tuition doesn't cover it, but it helps greatly.  Please check your records and be sure you are up-to-date with your tuition payments.

Thank you so much.
Jill

We will be painting sets Friday evening.  I will send out the time and place later today, but we can use your help.  Also, we may have another set painting experience on Saturday, but the time is not certain, yet.

Please plan to come, if you can.  We need all the help we can get.

Jill

Millie Updates

First, let me thank you for all your ticket selling efforts!  We have sold 181 tickets so far.  We are nearly half way there - wonderful news!!  I have pulled more tickets for Friday and Saturday night as well as the Saturday matinee so our seating options are better.  I can have tickets for you at rehearsal tomorrow if you let me know what you want.  Thursday night is the one really struggling.  Please help us get the numbers up, up, up!!  Seating charts are attached.

Second, I realize that the link I sent for volunteer sign ups was not allowing you to edit previously. I have fixed that in the following link:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuC74T3RhlxPdEgwbERqVG1mWXlad3c3VWVGSWFOaXc  Additionally I cannot find the paper version I brought to the parent meeting so if you signed up for something please fill it in here as well.  Sorry about that!

Last, we still need sponsors for our programs/playbill.  Below are the details I provided previously.  Please help us spread the word and do your best to increase our sponsorship.  From a marketing perspective this is minimal cost for the exposure, not to mention it's for a good cause!

The pricing is as follows:
Full Back Page $200
Full Page $150
1/2 page    $75
1/4 page $50
business card size $35

Sizes
full page 8 1/2X5
half page 4 1/4 X 5 1/2
quarter page 4 1/4 X 2 ½

Thanks again!
Beth

Rehearsal Help

Hello Parents of Annie and Millie casts.

I need a list of  parents who would be willing to stay during rehearsals at Performance Dance.   The upstairs offices are leased to a different company, but there is access to the offices from the dance studio.  In the past we have been able to use the upstairs lobby but we don't have permission to do that anymore.  I would like to have a parent available in the lobby during rehearsals to make sure that the kids don't go upstairs, ever. I just want to make sure the property of those leasing those offices is protected.  It's not a really fun job, but if you have the time, bring a book or a computer.  If we have enough volunteers, you might only need to stay for half the rehearsal time, or maybe once every couple of months.

Thanks.  Jill

Millie - Friday Night Rehearsal

Hi, Bun Foo, Ching Ho, and Mrs. Meers,  Last night, as some of you know, it was suggested that we rehearse Muqin and the Bun Foo, Ching Ho, Chinese.  Ethan, Sammy, and Miranda, I hope this works for you.  It would be great to get this finished.  Thanks.  Jill

Annie Headshots

Hello, Cast of Annie,  This Saturday our photographer will be at Performance Dance to begin taking headshots.  Your child doesn't need to wear anything special, except I would avoid black or white shirts.  No make up is required and if your child doesn't wear make-up to school, they shouldn't wear it for the head shots.  Thank you.  Jill

As Long As...song and dance

Hi, Cast,  I am changing some of the parts and cast in As Long As...
Soprano/Tenor singers:   Windy, LENA, Jenny, Ethan
Alto and James:  James, Habby, Megan, Shantell/Lena
Partner Dancers are:
Hannah K and Cody (Hannah, since you don't want to sing this you can go off stage after the dance part)
Bryan and Habby
Rylan and Megan
Male dancers:  Cody, Bryan, Rylan, Dekklan
I have taken a few of you out because I had too many singers and I don't think it will look good.
James and Ethan are very strong singers so I'm putting them at the mics instead of dancing.
Thanks.  Jill

Parent Meeting 01.05.13

Hello everyone –

First, let me apologize for making you read so much!  Second, let me ask you to please read and respond to the items in this email, they are important. I like to think I don't say anything unless it's important... haha :)

Thank you to everyone who attended the parent meeting on Saturday.  As always we really appreciate your attendance and could not pull off our productions without your time and support.
Below are the items discussed in the meeting:
1)      Jill went over the list of projects that need to be completed as early as possible.  Please let us know if you can take one of these assignments.  I’ll be sending a list of needed props soon as well.
a.       Sewing 20s hats
b.      Embellishment of costumes
c.       Build a “bird cage” elevator
d.      Jail – Dirk Vander Meyden (thank you!)
e.      Candlestick phones – Linda Larsen (thank you!)
f.        Typewriters – Danny Spaulding (thank you!)
g.       Painting sets – this will take a crew of people, we’ll let you know when and where.
h.      Mic assistant – Jessica Martin (thank you!) is a pro at working mics for us however in order to provide her some support and reprieve we would like to train someone as her assistant.  It’s a fun job that takes place during every tech night and performance.
2)      Here is a link to the volunteer sheet for sign ups. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-C74T3RhlxPMWpONTdQb3N0SlU.  If you cannot update the spreadsheet online please email me with your volunteer dates and I will update accordingly.  I will be adding the Ziegfeld dates to this as well.
a.       Set Crew – must wear black from head to toe.  We have long sleeve P.I.B. (People In Black) shirts available for purchase ($10) or you may borrow them for the show.
b.      Greenroom – female only for the time being, recommended you wear black in case we need your help on stage.
c.       Hair and makeup – this is to help prior to the show.
3)      We will be distributing a Code of Conduct for all parents to sign acknowledgement of receipt as well as for all volunteers to sign in agreement.
4)      Thank you so much to those who have already met (or exceeded!) their 20 ticket commitment!!  Don’t stop now!  Attached are the updated seating charts.  The seats with red boxes are those we have on hand to sell.  We are all really pushing sales for this show, myself and Jill included will sell AT LEAST 20 tickets!  I have 100 tickets per show available and will send frequent (AKA nagging) reminders for us to meet this goal as a company.  Thank you in advance!
5)      Don’t forget tuition is now past due for January.  To be current you should have paid September through January.  If you are behind please talk to me and we’ll work something out.
6)      We are selling t-shirts.
a.       The Millie show specific shirt is available in white or yellow and will have a red Thoroughly Modern Millie logo on the front with a small Jaks logo, show dates and cast list on the back.  The cost is $12.
b.      The Jaks company shirt is also available for this order in any color on the attached chart.  Please keep in mind that mid-range colors print best – meaning not too light and not too dark.  The cost is $10.
ORDERS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 14th – NEXT MONDAY!  Please include in your order which shirt(s) you want, what color and size.
7)      As always we need sponsors for the show program.  We print full color, multi-page programs which feature pictures of our cast as well as the show details.  These are distributed to approximately 500 people.  Please ask around to help us find the necessary sponsorship.

The pricing is as follows:
Full Back Page $200
Full Page $150
1/2 page    $75
1/4 page $50
business card size $35

Sizes
full page 8 1/2X5
half page 4 1/4 X 5 1/2
quarter page 4 1/4 X 2 ½

Thanks again for all you do as members of Jaks!  We look forward to working with you all on another fun and successful show.

Beth
