**4 Week Workshop**

Dear Summer Workshop Cast and Families,

I am really excited about the program we will be working on in July.  I have compiled songs from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked together and melded the story lines with a few twists, so it should be really fun.  There are a lot of speaking as well as vocal parts and ensemble numbers.  I just wanted to confirm some information.

The workshop begins on Monday July 2, and ends with performances at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater in Layton August 2^nd and 3^rd.  I originally planned to run the workshops Monday through Thursday 9:00-1:00, but there is a conflict with the rehearsal space.  So I will have the full cast Monday through Thursday from 10:00-1:00.  I will also have scene work for specific scenes and roles from 9:00-10:00 Monday through Thursday.

Those rehearsals will be set up after the show is cast on Monday of the second week.

JAKS will provide costumes, but I may need help with alterations.  I can also use help building the sets, painting, and with some special crafty projects.  I will have a meeting at 9:00 AM on Wednesday June 11 to dole out the projects.  Please come.  It’s always fun to participate.  Since there are only two performances I will try to have JAKS kids from my musical theater program help backstage so you can watch the performances, but I will need ushers.

There will be no classes on July 4, or July 19.  I may make up the time on a Friday.

All classes will be held at Performance Dance in Layton - 201 E 2150 N, Layton (the address when you Google them is incorrect!).

Please plan to come to JAKS fundraiser on August 4, and don’t miss How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying by JAKS musical theatre group.  It opens on August 9^th at the Rose Wagner Center in Salt Lake, tickets go on Sale July 3.

Hi, Cast.  Thank you so much to all of you who helped with the recital on Saturday.  I couldn't have done it without you.

H2S Rehearsals Week of June 18th

To everyone who participated in the performance on Saturday at the Kaysville Art Festival:
I had several comments about your professionalism (in spite of the sound issues, to be expected at a performance like this one)  One woman teaches show choir and she said she was so impressed with how professional you were, both on and off the stage.  I was very, very proud of you.  You adapted well to the small stage.  Thanks so much.

Saturday 2:00-4:00 YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO A RECITAL FOR JAKS 2 WEEK WORKSHOP.
I'd love for you to come and support these young kids at their recital.  This is a JAKS event and the culmination of the work we did in the two week workshop.  All of these kids are young and new and would be so happy to have an audience other than their parents.   Clearfield Library-

H2S Rehearsal

Hi, Cast.  These next two rehearsals are to prepare for the performance we have tomorrow night at
****5:40***** at the Kaysville Art Festival.  We need to review Coffee Break, Brotherhood of Man, and Company Way Reprise.  Windy, Bailey, Ethan, Abby, Belle, Sammy, Daniel- you do not need to come today (Friday)
But, we need to work out the end of Brotherhood of Man for all of you who aren't in the dance part.  As far as I know, that's Dekklan, Aidan, Kallam, Elizabeth, Brayden, and Brycen, Miranda, Kali, and Samantha J.  And we need to go over Company Way Reprise, so, Cody, if you can make it for even part of today's rehearsal that would be great.

Everyone performing needs to be at rehearsal tomorrow between 10:00-12:00. If that's not possible, you need to let me know.  If you do not have a t-shirt, let me know so I can get you one.

Girls, blue denim capris, JAKS shirt, character shoes
Boys, blue denim pants, JAKS shirt, black shoes-jazz shoes if you have them.

June 11th Weekly Update

Dear Cast,

Thanks to all of you who helped with the yard sale on Saturday.  We did really well and made enough money to put the deposit on the Jeanne Wagner.  It was really amazing, and far exceeded my expectations.  Please thank your families, for their donations, their time, and their purchases.

We have a performance of How To Succeed numbers at the Kaysville Art Festival on this Saturday-June 16 evening.  This is a 30 minute program and begins at either 6:00 or 6:30.  I'll confirm the time.  Girls, please wear denim capris, black character shoes and a JAKS T shirt-not the glee shirt unless it's the only one you have.  If you don't have a JAKS shirt, we have a few extra  Boys please wear denim pants and a JAKS shirt, and black shoes.  Jazz shoes if you have them.


Okay.  So far this is what I came up with for the schedule

2 Week Workshops begins tomorrow!!

Welcome to Jaks!  We look forward to an exciting 2 week workshop starting tomorrow.

The workshop will run June 11th - 22nd Monday thru Thursday, 10AM - 1PM.  Please plan to arrive at 9:45AM tomorrow to fill out paperwork (attached, we'll have copies there as well) and attend a ten minute parent/student orientation promptly at 10AM.

All workshops will be held at Performance Dance in Layton:  201 E 2150 N, Layton (the address when you Google them is incorrect!).

The recital will be held at the Clearfield Library (562 S 1000 E, Clearfield) June 23rd from 2PM - 4PM.

Wear your JAKS t-shirts if you have them and come by and say hi and hang out a little.  We will have the JAKS information booth set up at the yard sale.

If you want to participate in the Brotherhood of Man number for the fund raiser, and are not in How to Succeed you can come to the Thursday rehearsal June 7
***I want to do Hard Knock Life at the fund raiser August 4, so all of you girls out there 12 and under, I need you.
***If you weren't at the rehearsal Saturday for the fund raiser, but plan to participate please let me know.  I am trying to finalize the program.  Windy, Bailey, Abby, Miranda, Ethan, Kali, Bryan, Samantha J, Belle, I'm counting on you to participate.  But, there are a lot of you who I haven't heard from who will find this a really fun project to be involved in.  So, get on board.
