Volunteers for Les Miserables

Hi all -
As Jill mentioned above here is the sign up sheet for volunteers.
Please go to this link and enter your name where you can volunteer.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuC74T3RhlxPdHViUGh5bzdLYlk5QWlnamVGb3ZTTlE&usp=sharing

Microphones
- 1 person from 530PM to end of show/tech rehearsal.  Don't be afraid to sign up for this.  We will have a list of mic changes and this person is responsible for ensuring the correct mic is on the correct cast member (and doesn't run off with the previous one) before they go on stage.  This means keeping track of them throughout the entire show and returning them to the sound booth afterward.

Set Crew AKA PIB
(People in Black) - 5 people needed from 530PM to end of show/tech rehearsal.  These people need to be dressed in black from head (well neck) to toe so you cannot been seen when changing sets during blackouts.

Greenroom
Moms
- 5 women needed from 530PM to end of show/tech rehearsal.  Spend the show in the greenroom helping kids with costume changes, hair and makeup fixes, making sure the kids are not hanging out in the dressing rooms, make their queues to be on stage and entertaining the little ones.

Hair/Makeup
- As many as possible from 530PM to 730PM.  It's exactly what it sounds like - helping the kids with hair and makeup.
What to expect:
We have quite a few new cast members this show so hopefully I can provide some clarity on what to expect during tech week and performance nights.

Tech week is the 3 evenings prior to opening night.  It is equally as important as our shows and therefore we have very high expectations.
  • The first night (February 24th) we are working on sound and lighting in addition to running a full dress rehearsal so there may be pausing and waiting for things to come together.  We need all cast members on time (5PM) and paying close attention to learn their queues and the full flow of the show.
  • The second two nights (February 25th & 26th) we run the show. Period.  We may as well have an audience because this is full show, cast, crew, etc. doing at least two full runs prior to opening night.  Again the entire cast must be there at 5PM, crew at 530PM.
We understand this is a busy and exhausting week for everyone, parents, cast and crew alike, however if you are new you will find that the energy of the cast (and Jill) is contagious and more than anything it's an incredibly exciting time!

Performance nights are exactly the same as February 25th & 26th.  We need the entire cast to arrive no later than 5PM, crew at your designated times and stay through the end of the show. For the matinee these times are 12 noon for cast and crew.

Thanks as always for all of your support.  We wouldn't be successful without the wonderful family, friends and parents of our amazing cast members!  Please reach out with any questions.

Important Les Mis Update

Hi, Everyone,
The following are very important to the success of Les Miserables.  Please do what you can to help.
(***note-all cast members are responsible for their own make-up (foundation, blush, lipstick) Lipstick, except for the Lovely Ladies will need to be a natural color.  All girls need a nude leotard (preferably with spaghetti straps) and nude tights.

1. Props I still need; Outdoor bench, candle stick holders (silver or able to be painted)

2. Sewing help:  I need a really creative person to do the embellishments of Madame Thenardier's dress for the wedding.
I have a dress (that needs to be adjusted for size) that will act as a good base.  If you go to youtube and pull up the wedding scene for Les Miserables you can see how gaudy it needs to be.  It will be a fun project for someone with a little time and a lot of ideas.

3. Load in-  We need a lot of help to load the trucks Saturday night-Feb. 22.  Also, anyone available on Sunday the 23rd should plan to help with the load in at the theatre.  We have a lot of large set pieces and a lot of construction to put them back together.

4. Help during the show.  Beth will be creating a sign-up sheet for set crew and greenroom.  We will need about 5 set crew and 5 greenroom mothers for each performance. Please plan to help.  ***Set crew must wear all black-head to toe

5. Load-out-Everyone needs to help with this, including the cast.  We have a lot of sets to take apart and load out of the theater, dressing rooms to clean and we need to mop the stage before we leave.  We also need to be out of the theater by 12:00 midnight on Saturday after our last show.  That means we need a lot of hands.  We may only have an hour to get it all done.

6.  We will be doing some tech and dress rehearsals at the Castle of Chaos starting next week.

Thank you, as always, for your support.

**NEXT JAKS PRODUCTION**

Hi, Everyone,

I have finally, after much deliberation, decided on our next show.  The dates, however have changed for the performances from June to August.  Unfortunately, our events coordinator at the Jeanne Wagner was not able to hold the June dates like she thought. This will give us a little more time to get this show together, but it will span the summer.  I know that summer presents problems with vacations, etc. but we have time to allow planned absences.

So, The show is... drum roll please...............

Fiddler on the Roof.   I chose this because it is very funny, but has a dramatic ending, has a lot of dancing, and has a lot of lead parts for both boys and girls.  There are 5 strong girl parts and 5 strong boy parts.  That's if we single cast.  I am trying to get more dates to extend the run to 8 shows.  I'm waiting to hear from Jessica at the Jeanne Wagner.  We will open on August 14.

Please consider being part of this show.  You will like it, I promise, even if you don't like it right now.
