**Jaks Fall/Winter Update**

Dear Cast and Parents,

Cast Party:  Jill's 9/1512  4:00-    Family Members and Cast of the 4 week summer workshop and How To Succeed 1 and 2 are invited. As always we love to see our alumni and others who will be joining us this fall. Please plan something for the talent show.  More details to follow. 

I have decided not to do "Joseph" and to do "Thoroughly Modern Millie" instead.  "Millie" has a lot of speaking parts and a lot of girl parts, which we need.  There are 4 major female characters who sing, and 5 speaking parts with some vocals.  And there is a lot of dancing (serious tapping) and jazz dances.  Boys, there are 4 major parts and a bunch of minor parts, a small group of male dancers and singers (6 or so).  I hope you are all happy with this choice.  I applied for the rights today, but there are  no holds, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I want to start rehearsal on September 15, also the cast party is the 15th.  Please recruit friends and family members who are serious about acting, dancing, singing.  We will need more cast than we currently have. 

And, last, but certainly not least,  Parents and Alumni, I need your help!!!  There is a lot of room for improvement in JAKS.  So, I have decided to set up committees to help with some of the projects that either get left until the last minute, don't get done at all, or get done half way.  If you would be willing to consider a volunteer position as a committee head, please let me know.  We will set up a meeting and decide what committees are necessary and who will head them.

JAKS Next Show

To all JAKS Cast Members and Families:

I want to thank all of you for your participation at the benefit.  Also, for all of you who did How To Succeed, I was very proud of your performances, and your professionalism.  I was very happy with the show and, of course, am looking forward to the next production.

I would like to schedule the cast party for September 1st or 8th.  Please let me know if you won't be available for either of those two days.  Also, the traditional talent show will be the featured program as will the video.  Start working on your performances.

I have not decided on the next show, but will need to start rehearsals in September in order to make the Feb. deadline.  Some of you have heard that I am considering doing "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"  I have submitted an application for the rights, but have not heard back yet.  If we do "Joseph" I will divide the Narrator parts into at least two (and double cast if possible) and will have one of the wives do the coat of many colors song. 
For those of you who are familiar with the show, you know that there is no dialog, however every cast member must act, sing and dance.  Most  of the numbers will require harmony vocals, in small groups and large, and a good deal of dancing in most of the show.  I will need a children's chorus of about 30 and hope to get you to help me recruit children 7-10 who can sing, carry a tune, and hold a harmony part.  Girls who don't think this will be a fun show unless you are a Narrator, please reconsider.  The "wives" carry most of the songs, and dances. 

I'm thinking of OkLahoma, and even Thoroughly Modern Millie if we don't do Joseph.  But I would like to know which of you plan to return to do the next show.  Please let me know.

H2S UPDATES

A few items of business regarding H2S. 

1) Please sell tickets!!! And sell them in advance, it's better for my health when I get our ticket sales reports :)  http://arttix.org/tickets/production.aspx?performanceNumber=9087

3)  Everyone needs to bring leotards, hair and makeup supplies and their boxes if they have them starting Monday night for our first tech rehearsal.  Also, they need to bring food for tech week, and any other costume pieces they may have, including shoes, etc.

5) If you are interested in purchasing bouquets for closing night Linger Floral will do this again, same as last time.  $25 please indicate if you wanted a mixed floral bouquet or all roses.  They will be delivered to you at intermission closing night.  Also, if you took home any of the centerpieces from last time please let me know I need those containers back.  Thanks!

6) Please let me know if you have a food handlers permit and can help us put together some food items for a reception we are hosting on Friday night.
